Zoetermeer is located between Den Haag, Rotterdam, Utecht and Amsterdam.
By plane:
There are thee major airports in the Netherlands: Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Eindhoven. Eindhoven offers a lot of cheap flights but is a bit further away then the others. Continue with the public transport instructions.
By public transport:
Surf to http://journeyplanner.9292.nl/ and plan your journey to tram stop “Dorp” in Zoetermeer or railway station “Zoetermeer Oost” (not “Zoetermeer”, that one is pretty far away), use the pull-downs to indicate that you’re navigating to a stop or station.
From NS railway station “Zoetermeer Oost” it’s a 7 minute walk down “Eerste Stationsstraat” (northbound) until the traffic lights at the intersection with the “Karel Doormanlaan”, then you have arrived!
From Randstadrail tram stop “Dorp” it’s a 4 minute walk. Walk up the stairs at the tram stop and then towards the traffic lights. Continue through “Oranjelaan” to the next traffic lights, these are at the intersection with “Eerste Stationsstraat”. Then you have arrived!
Latenstaan is the black building at the intersection :)
The tram company offers returns from Den Haag, Delft and Scheveningen for € 4,- These tickets are sold at supermarkets and kiosks and they’re called “Dalurenretour Den Haag-plus”. Buying a ticket in the tram or bus is much more expensive, so always buy a ticket in advance, or use an ov-chipkaart.
Buying train tickets can only be done using a Maestro card (no credit cards) or coins at machines. Only major stations have ticket offices, with limited opening hours.
The fine for using public transport without a ticket is € 35,- plus the price of your journey.
